Peppermills
This past weekend, I made a few peppermills out of various woods. I currently have one each in locally sourced Oak, Maple, African mahogany, and locally sourced Walnut. The Oak came from my fathers ranch in Campo, the Walnut from a tree felled in Spring Valley. I started with some blocks of wood approximately 5"x5"x6" and turned them down to 3" rounds. I then drilled a 1" hole in the center. The next step was to turn them to the desired shape, sand down to 600 grit and apply the finish. The finish is a paste made from mineral oil and bee's wax. I then applied a final coat of locally sourced bee's wax. This was a fun project and look forward to making several more.
